High quality full colour Labels – All shapes and sizes!

Choose from many pre cut sizes from our list below which can be supplied as A4 or SRA3 sheets. The benefit of having pre-cut labels is that there is no die tooling to pay for and no kiss cut run!

This means you get them quick and at a much better price. If there is a size that is not on the list then we can either trim to size on a split back self adhesive or make a bespoke tool to the exact size your require.

Either way, for the best quality labels ask Ashwyk!

have also designed and developed a new brochure and marketing
campaign which we will be rolling out over the next few
months.

View our artwork guidelines here!

Note: We assume you are using InDesign to create your PDFs. Please do not Distill Postscripts into PDFs as this is an outdated method not advised by Adobe. If using Quark it is still better to output a PDF/X from Quark than to Distill a Postscript into one.

ICC Colour Profiles

Uncoated FOGRA29 (ISO 12647-2:2004)
Coated FOGRA39 (ISO 12647-2:2004)

Colours

Please convert all spot colours to CMYK, this can be done on a swatch by swatch basis or using Ink Manager in the Swatch Panel. The reason for this is it can cause confusion with the RIP regarding Spot Colour conversion and any Transparencies used.

(Please note if you need to supply us with a Cutter, Fold or Foil Guides you should use the Swatch by Swatch Basis Method).

Ink Manager > All Spots to Process

Tints of spots can come out a bit different when converted to the CMYK colour space. If you have a tint of Reflex Blue for example the tint of reflex blue in a CMYK colour space may reproduce with more Magenta.

Cutter, Fold & Foil Guides

Should be setup as a Spot called ‘Cutter Guide’ and set as Magenta or Cyan. Crease Guides should be dashed, Cutter Guides as solid. All to be 100% Tint. Guides to be 0.25pt. Please also Overprint the Strokes and Fills for Cutter Guides and Foil Guides.

IndiChrome, & Digital Matte

If your going to be using Indichrome or Digital Matte, please call your Spot Colours either ‘Orange’ for Orange or Digital Matte for ‘Digital Matte’.

Calling them anything else just wastes time as will have to setup a new RIP Template.

All Digital Matte elements will also need to be setup as Overprint and setup to 100% Tint.

Adobe PDF Presets

Please do not use High Quality Print or Press Quality Presets.
We prefer the latest pass4press settings (which you can download from their website), but otherwise please use the below:

PDF/X-1a:2001
PDF/X-1:2002a
or PDF/X-3:2002.

Compatibility

PDF Version 1.3, 1.4 or 1.5 only please.

Spreads

Please DO NOT output PDFs as spreads, especially brochures and booklets.
We much prefer single pages for all our work, as it is then easier to impose into Printers Pairs. On a further note, please do not create your artwork in Printers Pairs especially if the pages are not numbered as they might be then be organised into Printers Pairs during imposition which could mean the pages will be shuffled out of order.
The only time we will require spreads are for Covers that are being Perfect Bound with a Spine.

Bleed

At least 3mm minimum on all sides to be trimmed, this includes Die Cut jobs.

Marks

Crop Marks only, no need for Bleed Marks, Registration Marks or Colour Bars. We will add these if needed during imposition.

Images

300PPI is the optimum file resolution for images. Anything under this and you will start to see the image quality break up. TIFFs saved with LZW compression are the best image format for Quality. JPEGs/JPGs loose their quality every time you save them due to the lossy compression they use.

Please note most images captured on camera are in the sRGB colour space which is a lot larger than the CMYK colour space we print in, due to this gamut clipping can occur. You should use perceptual profiles for the best reproduction. Please see the below example of this:

Screen Angles and LPI/DPI

Our Indigo as standard prints at 175LPI which is 350DPI. We can print at different screen angles, but this to be advised in the quoting stages.

Screen Angle are as follows:

Cyan 15 Degrees
Magenta 17 Degrees
Yellow 58 Degrees
Key [Black] 45 Degrees

Transparency Flatteners

Please flatten your transparencies using at least the High Resolution Flattener as a minimum but we prefer the pass4press settings which are below:

Raster Vector Balance: 100
Line Art and Text Resolution: 2400ppi
Gradient and Mesh Resolution: 600pi
Convert All Text to Outlines: Off
Convert All Strokes to Outlines: Off
Clip Complex Regions: N/A

If you don’t flatten your transparancies our RIP will convert them and you may get undesired results. (It can also increase the time taken to RIP, in some causes in can increase by over hour. When the job would normally be RIPped in under 5 minutes.)
